| Thallus of dispersed granules to irregularly rimose-areolate or almost leprose, yellowish green to yellowish grey, epruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus not visible. Apothecia sessile, 0.3–0.8 mm diam.; disc pale red-brown to yellow-brown or pinkish, epruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, indistinct, thin, entire, soon becoming excluded. Excipulum hyaline, indistinct; algal cells absent or sparse. Epihymenium yellowish brown, c. 10 µm thick, with numerous crystals soluble in KOH. Hymenium, subhymenium and hypothecium hyaline. Paraphyses sparingly branched and slightly thickened apically. Ascospores narrowly ellipsoidal, 10.5–18.5 × 4.0–6.5 µm. | Occurs on twigs, bark and wood in W.A., southern S.A. and south-eastern N.S.W. Reported here for the first time from Australia, L. symmicta appears to have a bipolar distribution. | ||
